All members, riders, parents, and officials must conduct themselves in such a manner as to reflect the ideals of good sportsmanship. All participants should express and accept each other’s views, opinions, and decisions without contempt.

LYTL would like riders to:

• Observe the rules of competition and follow all instructions given to them by any Commissaire or official at any time during the event.

• Every rider must always observe such conduct as reflects the ideals of good sportsmanship and avoid any conduct which may bring their self or the sport into disrepute.

• Not use obscene or foul language. Such language will be penalized in a manner to be determined by the Commissaire or official at any time during the event.

• Maintain good sportsmanship and conduct

• Be held accountable for the actions of their parents, team managers and any other persons in their company at a LYTL competition or event.

• Any misconduct on the part of any of these persons may, at the discretion of a race Commissaire or race director result in the issuing of a warning, disqualification or suspension of the rider and the removal of the offending persons from the track area.
   

LYTL would like parents to:

• Listen when your child says they don’t want to do something.

• Behave positively on the side-lines – shout encouragement and let your child know you are proud of what they are doing.

• Think about how the way you react and behave effects not just your child but others too.

• Lead by example when it comes to positive behaviour on the side-lines.

• Accept the official’s judgement and do not enter the track centre.

• Use social media responsibly when talking about what goes on at LYTL by behaving in the same way online as you would in person.

• Talk to your child about embracing good etiquette, sportsmanship and playing by the rules.

• Ensure that your child understands the expectations of riding in LYTL competition and events.

 

As a parent, we understand you have the right to:

• Be assured that your child is safeguarded during their time with LYTL.

• Know what training and qualifications event officials have.

• Be informed of problems or concerns relating to your child.

• Know what happens if there’s an accident or injury, be informed if your child is injured and see records held of any accident via the Velodrome staff.

• Have your consent sought for anything outside of British Cycling’s consent form, such as social media.

• Have any concerns about any aspect of your child’s welfare listened to and responded to if not dealt with internally with the rider’s registered club.

 

We expect all parents to follow this code.  If any parent behaves in a way which contradicts any of the points set out above, we will address the problem straight away with the parent and aim to resolve the issue.

 

Persistent concerns or breaches may result in parents being asked not to attend events if their attendance is considered a risk to the welfare and enjoyment of other participants.
